- Local AD
- Prerequisite: in Active Directory Users and Computers: click View and enable "Advanced Features"
- Right click their name > Rename and set it to the new name
- Right click their name > Properties
- General tab: set First Name, Last Name, Display Name and E-mail
- Account tab: set User logon name and User logon name (pre-Windows 2000)
- Profile tab: update the home folder path with the same value as "User logon name"
- Note the path to the home folder for the next steps
- Attribute Editor tab: set "proxyAddresses" add a new value "SMTP:{new_email}" replace {new_email} with their new email address
- If the user has been around for a while, add another value in "proxyAddresses" like so "smtp:{old_email}" replace {old_email} with their old email address. Make sure to leave "smtp" lowercase for this one. The uppercase "SMTP" is the primary address.
- Adjust User folder name
- MI and PR users: Go to agate-dc-fs01 D:\Users and rename their user folder to the same as "User logon name". When it asks, say yes to merge.
- AZ user: Go to agate-azsrv01 E:\Users and rename their user folder to the same as "User logon name". When it asks, say yes to merge.
- Login to Agate-AADConnect, open PowerShell and run Start-ADSyncSyncCycle -PolicyType Delta
- Wait 30 sec to 1 minute
- Login to Entra ID: edit the users properties and update their UPN (User principal name)
- Update their email in KnowBe4, Asset Tiger and UniFi if applicable

- Have someone update their email in Hercules (currently Craig Davis)
